Today we continued to present our works about Ancient Greece. Me and Alex did the presentation to everybody. I was very nervous when I presenting our works. But it actually better than I thought. Hopefully I will get a good grade on this. And we also need to write an 1000-words essay on the topic we research . My life is so tough!

Today we presented our project. Our plan is go through all presentation in this class. But we only go though 2 presentation today. The first presentation by Caitlyn and Thresh took about 40 minutes. Their presentation was just awesome! I learned a lot of stuff from it. I'm very excited about my incoming presentation. I'll try my best to give everybody a good lesson!

Today we continued talked about the tyrants. After we finish, Mr. Schick told us we might have a day off on Friday due to the snow. This is a absolutely good news because we can have a 3-day weekend if Friday is off!

Today we spent a whole class working on our project. Our project is almost done. Also, I check the weather during the class and it said we might have snow on Friday!. If it does, then we won't have to present our project on Friday!

Today we continue work on our Ancient Greece project. One interesting thing mentioned by Mr. Schick is our project is " Art and Archtecture " , and my and my partner's name are all start with A. It's like AA do AA. What a coincidence! At the very end of class, Mr. Schick show us two videos about kid's crying, which are funny and all students laughed. I finally understand why Mr. Schick is saying" Are you crying?" all the time.

Today at very beginning of class, we had a shout video talk with Mr. Schick's daughter, since today is her birthday. Everyone seems have fun talk with Mr. Schick's daughter, especially Alex. After that, we start make our google slide with partners.

Today we did a review about ancient Greece. After review, Mr. Schick give us a quiz. Only 10 multiple choice questions but we have to answer each question in 10 second. It sounds really tough but actually the question is very easy. At the end, I got 2 question wrong. I feel sad because most of people get them all right. After quiz, Mr. Schick let us find 2 partner for our project. My partner is Alex and our project is about the Athenian art and architecture. This project is due on next Friday.

 Today we talked about the geography and culture about Ancient Greece. Here is the note:


  • Greece is a mountainous peninsula. Over 3/4 of its territory are mountain.

  • Greek diet consist of grain, grapes, olives.

  • Lack of resources mostly led to Greek colonization.

  • Humer is a storyteller live at the end of the Greek dark ages. 

  • Dorian move in Greece and take over it. They 
          Dorian were far less advanced
          The trade-based economy collapsed
          Writing disappearing for 400 years
          Talk about culture in decline

This is Aristotle, a famous ancient Greek philosopher. He was born in 384 BCE and died in 322. He is one of the greatest philosopher and scientist in western history. His writing covered many subjects: physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics, poetry, theater, music, rhetoric, linguistics and politics. He represent the highest point of philosophy and science at ancient Greece. Even though he is died, we are still study about him.

Cyber day homework March 5th



This is the Temple of Hera in Greece. It was built in the middle of the sixth century BC. Like most of  Greece temple, this temple is rectangular and peripteral. It has fifteen columns in the side and 6 columns in the front. The building material of this temple is marble. This temple is famous for it's step level. The multiple of stair case create a system of levels successfully.

 


This is the Greek theatre built on 4th century BC. It is a raked auditorium for watching performance of theatre. Greece also invented "theatre" in literary form. The shape of theatre is sami-circle. The rising level of the seat separated by the aisle, provide a perfect vision to the audiences. 



This is the stadium built in Greece. It is one of the lasting Greek archtectural contribution to world culture. The water-pipes are surrender the stadium to drain off the water from rain. The stadium provide a perfect condition for Olympic games.

Today we talked about a few thing about Ancient Greece. Here is my notes.

  • Greece has thousand of Island. The biggest one is in the southern part called Crete. 

  • Greece is surrender by sea. On the east side is the Aegean sea, west side is the Adriatic sea. The Mediterranean is on the southwest. 

  • Greece has a lot of mountain. 


  • Athen and Sparta are the two rival in ancient Greece. The have something in common and something different. 

  • Ancient Greece people good at fishing and building ship.

Egyptian Astronomy - Astronomy helped Egyptians to record the time of year for agricultural periods, and may well served a navigational purpose, a common practice in the desert. These observations became imbued with religious significance and became incorporated into their architecture

Hieroglyph - Hieroglyphic writing was in use from about 3200 BC until the lath 4th century AD and changed very little during this period and is very well preserved.

Papyrus - The ancient Egyptians used papyrus to make paper. baskets, sandals, mats, rope, blankets tables, chairs, medicine and clothes. Papyrus was an important "gift of the Nile".

Medicines - The ancient Egyptians had a wide variety of medicines and cures. Many of their medicines were accompanied by spells to ward off the evil spirit making the person sick.

Shipbuilding - With the Nile River playing a major role in the live of the Egyptians, building ships was a big part of their technology. They originally built small boats form papyrus reed, but later began to build large ships form cedar wood imported from Lebanon
