- Connecticut - Thomas Hooker - Leave from Puritan #Wrote a document called "The Foundational Orders of Connecticut - First written system of government in North America.
- New York - People from Netherland Henry Hudson - paid by dutch Largest town - New Amsterdam
- New Jersey - The English took over the New Amsterdam and divided it into two colonies - NY, NJ They changed the name of New Amsterdam to New York City
- Pennsylvania - Established by William Penn - Quakers. He asked English King to give him land for settling colony and get approved
Penn's belief: All people should be treated equally, No slavery, Maintain peace with natives
- Delaware - Established by Swedes. Then dutch took over. Then the English took over. Some southern Pennsylvania settlers wanted to set up their own colony - Quaker leader agreed
